Our Story
I'm James, originally from the U.K., and I've been calling Queensland home for the past 12 years. What started as a love for the ocean and sailing has grown into Casual Fare Sailing Charters over the past decade. We began with a simple vision: to offer truly intimate sailing experiences that larger operators simply can't match. Our Compass Innovator yacht, which once served as a bareboat hire in the Whitsundays, became the perfect vessel for our dream. We deliberately keep our groups small—maximum six passengers—because we believe the best memories are made when you're not just another face in the crowd. Working closely with local businesses like Townsville Yacht Club, Mello Cafe, and Gelatissimo, we've created something special: authentic Townsville sailing experiences that feel personal, relaxed, and genuinely memorable.
